Speaking to the confidence on the internet thing. I'm doing a masters in psychology and I get very annoyed by instagram self-help coaching "all you have to do is quit your job and meditate" people. People saying that they work for themselves and are coaches, built their own brand, but have 300 followers on insta and are part of a pyramid scheme. Not only is a lot of what they say NOT evidence-based but it can also be detrimental to the mental health of their audience. You can't just put up a pretty picture with a quote saying "make sure you drink 5 glasses of water a day" and call yourself an expert on life. As a psychologist, life-coach or whatever, you have a duty of care over the people who listen to you. If you don't understand on an academically valid level how humans emotional and cognitive functions operate, you can do some serious damage by putting things out on the internet telling people how they need to behave in order to be happy.
There is a serious range of mental health amongst people. At different places, people respond differently to different things. If you are extremely depressed, hearing somebody say all you need is to wake up an hour earlier to exercise and you'll be happy, might not work. For a variety of reasons. One being motivation and learned helplessness, another being a chemical imbalance that can't just be solved through exercise, another being the problem could be deeply profound unaddressed trauma. By saying just exercise, you're completely missing what the person needs to address. On the other hand, if you are a generally mentally well person with a normal range of emotion, motivation and excitement for life, you might benefit from hearing that waking up an hour early to exercise is good for you, you might be able to commit to doing it, and then your life might be a bit better for it. What instagram lacks is a filter because anybody can say anything, and say they REPRESENT anything. People are only exposed to valid psychological treatment when they really need it through therapy, but every single human can be exposed to potentially harmful "positive" coaching content. Psychological coaching does exist (i.e., life improvement self-help type stuff to do with motivation and setting goals, performance in sport, executive coaching etc), but is only used in specific circumstances, and would never be used with somebody that was not generally mentally well to start with.
The most infuriating ones are those that are out of touch and put out ideas that are unattainable to many people. That entire scene is a loop of positive feedback operating somewhat like a pyramid scheme, where people with 100 subs pay for coaching from people with 1000 subs, people with 1000 subs get coaching from people with 10,000. You could say that maybe I'm just annoyed I've dedicated 6+ years to a profession and there are confident people on the internet trying to do the same thing with no qualification. The degree structure isn't perfect, but somewhere in the middle should be. At least in psychology you are bound by the profession to meet a code of conduct INCLUDING duty of care. I know Jordan does a self-help type thing, but it's very different to what I'm talking about. I just thought I'd bring this up because there seems to be potential for a world where psychology becomes completely disrespected because of the actions of people who operate in the same space but aren't educated at all., and right now we really need good mental heath frameworks to live by.
Food for thought!

Did I just have a completely different dating life to everyone else around me? Boys, I stayed a virgin until I was almost 21. I reached a point at 19 where I was one of the last virgins left in my circle, that I was no longer in this rush to lose it, but rather, I slowed down and wanted to lose it to someone I really felt comfortable with. That person is my girlfriend of 4 and a half years of whom Iâll propose to soon. In terms of the dating circle, if I classified a relationship as dating, I was in. I wasnât looking outward until I had decided that the relationship I was in wasnât working. Outside high school, I dated one girl, it was fun at first but eventually she annoyed me (we were too different from each other). Then I gave my current girlfriend a chance, and here we are. My psyche was never to look for the next best thing, it was to try with what was in front of me, which applies for my life outside of dating as well as in. Only when I felt something wasnât working would I then break it off, and only after that would I look outside the relationship. That being said, I think you guys are right about the dating landscape, itâs always looking outward to something better. Neel loves saying this, âThe grass is always greener on the other side.â
Also, on the election, Craig Kellyâs âdeflectionâ to the UAP has put a fucking atom bomb on Hughes and now I have no clue whoâs going to win. Craig is the incumbent, but heâs gone to a party that here is wildly unpopular. Then thereâs Jenny Ware for the Liberals, the fact sheâs a Liberal is in her favour. But the big dark horse here is Georgia Steele, an independent. Sheâs campaigning hard, and despite me being a hardened Labor voter, Iâm considering voting her, because I get the impression Hughes hates Labor. Other candidates are Laborâs Riley Campbell (only recently announced), Linda Seymore (independent) and the Greenâs Peter Thompson is probably the least likely (he got assaulted by Craig Kelly at Sutherland station last election campaign)
If Jordan is so convinced minor parties are a siphon for the Liberal party. Do a video on why?
New sting?
Melbourne, my house (Mumâs garage), us and a bag of md. Fuck the election letâs make this happen!! Also can you guys bring the MDMA, Iâm out of the loop with getting that these days.
The emotion Jordan gives off is a Malcom Tucker who hasnât learnt to swear yet and only will when he starts speaking in a Scottish accent⊠the emotion neel gives off is (I donât actually know what would be more offensiveâŠ) false smugness/plain smugness⊠but also very gregarious

31:28 it seems now that the mediaâs angle of attack is to cast Albo as a declining scatterbrain akin to Joe Biden. Insidiously, this seems to roll both the âlabuur cant manage moneyâ and the âlabÏ ÎŒr is a weak leaderâ lines into a convenient emotional association that the populace can easily be taught.

Gotta agree with Neel's summation of #girlboss. Perfect example of this is the corporatisation of IWD.
On the topics of moods and thoughts, Iâm confused to what makes me me. Different foods, diets, drugs, sleep schedule, all effect my mood and give me specific thoughts. Do i believe things because of my morals and life experiences? Or are my beliefs based on what chemicals are in my body?
For examples, eating chocolate makes me misanthropic.
