Here is my reaction to Canelo and Bivol’s most recent training footage. I also give my thoughts on how the fight could go. Huge …

  1. Looks like a good match up, I'd just say, watching the fight history of both, although they both have walked through most of their adversaries, Alvarez has the edge with a lot more fights and variety, anybody watch the two fights he had with Golovkin would know of Alvarez' stamina- this will be epic!

  2. Bivol throws wide left and right hooks and will leave himself wide open for counters up the middle. It should be a good fight, but frankly Bivol doesn't have the power to intimidate Canelo. He only has 11 KO's and has not stopped an opponent in almost 4 years. Could this be another Caleb Plant fight?????

  3. Canelo will win, but perhaps not in the way people necessarily expect. Being that Bivol is a career light heavyweight, some people might suspect that Bivol will use that advantage somewhat push, pull, weight, and otherwise tussle with Canelo. This, however, will NOT actually happen at all and Bivol will try to fight a purely middle distance boxing match with Canelo. Even though Bivol has more height and reach than Canelo, Canelo will still outbox him from middle distance and win the fight rather easily (Remember when Danny Jacobs gave Canelo a purely middle distance boxing match? Canelo won 7-5 or 8-4 by most peoples scorecards. In a similar way Golovkin (in Golovkin-Canelo One) was being outboxed by Canelo at middle-distance until Golovkin started moving in and walking Canelo down, forcing Canelo to the ropes. I don't think Bivol at any point will even try to use his size to force Canelo back (not that he actually could). The punches that Bivol throws while moving (and not planting) will surprisingly (to a lot of people) not have enough force to keep Canelo off of him and Canelo will proceed by either walking Bivol down or simply accepting the middle distance boxing match that Bivol offers him, where Canelo is simply landing more punches overall. Also, if anyone disagrees with this assessment, keep in mind that even if Canelo loses 7-5 he will still get the decision win. If Canelo loses 8-4 the result will be a draw (or Canelo might even still win). To go further, even if Canelo loses 9-3, I can still see Canelo getting a draw, especially because of the political situation between the West and Russia. If Bivol understands all of this, he will know that he needs to earn a stoppage to win, (and keep in mind that ALL Bivol's recent fights have been unanimous decision victories (not seemingly likely to happen against Canelo). Because Bivol understands that he needs to fight more aggressively to earn a stoppage, he is liable to make more mistakes and provide more openings for Canelo to take advantage of (assuming that Bivol is actually trying to obtain a stoppage). More than likely Bivol will just fight his typical disciplined fight and lose a decision regardless of anything that happens outside of a stoppage.

  4. Bivol is no more then a sparring partner, if that! CANELO will play with him 3 rounds then knock him out. The man does not belong in ring with Canelo so stop the hype. This is another example of the mind games and dishonesty that is still so prevalent in the Boxing game. Don't waste your money, this is just a pay day for alot of people except us poor slobs. Won't go 4 rounds.

  5. Canelo is a natural 160, and will always be the little guy fighting these giants at 168 and 175. They asked Eddie if there was gonna be a catch weight and he said that Bivol team were asking to fight at 170, and Canelo said, no let's keep it at it's normal weight 175

  6. I believe BIVOL will be the second man to beat CANELO… all things considered, the Russian is in his weight division, he's in his prime, and is faster than CANELO. He will upset the Mexican in 12 exciting rounds.

  7. Great video Jamie. We'll I'm sure we've all seen the Canelo training and never boring but what a treat to see the style and fluidity of Bivol!! I'd like to see some more of that left hook and in general always looking for good shadow footage of whomever it is. If you have some good shadow complications that would be a nice video to put out there. Could be just a mixture maybe of fighters. The old are also quite different and interesting. Thank you

  8. I think it comes down to Bivol's power. If he can get Canelo's respect with enough power he's got a chance, but if he's got nothing for Canelo it will end up similar to the Plant fight where he just walks him down the whole fight, gets tired near the end and gets into survival mode. He's a big guy. If Canelo knocks him out I think it'll be from body shots.

  9. He better be doing a lot of push up variations, rows, dips and core strength work …those finishing bidy builder type shoulder exercises are a waste of time

  10. When Alvarez fought Jacobs.. Jacobs was experienced, quick , good chin , good defense, same height and reach as Bivol He wasnt intimidated by Alvarez.

Unless Bivol can bring more dimension to his style..a new capability ….this fight will be good …but Alvarez will win…just like the Jacobs fight

  11. Canelo picked Bivol as he’s the smallest out of all the name 175 pounders.
Bivol has been coasting a little since bursting on the scene way back in 2017 being a one belt champion.
Having said that this is Canelo’s biggest test regardless of weight as Bivol has it all in spades: amateur background, technique, chin, conditioning, ring IQ and he has a beautiful style that’s hard to breakdown.
Bivol will need to stamp his authority on the fight early though as if he shows too much respect Canelo will dominate him.
    Such a great matchup

  12. Bivol's fluidity and rhythm are certainly impressive and fun to watch. He definitely has power too, but Canelo is just plain different. There is zero doubt that he is a generational athlete and he's going to be exceptionally difficult to stop for anyone in almost any weight class. His training footage is absolutely awe inspiring. Bivol is obviously a very serious threat but I think Canelo works on the fly, downloads as he goes and walks away victorious

  13. Bivol is the only LHW that can beat Canelo, imho. He doesn't gas. He coasts in fights because he can. I feel like he's going for the kill here. He knows what happens when you let the judges decide a Canelo fight. 🥊🏆

  14. Canelo won't chase Bivol until last 2-3 rounds. Bivol has to attack to win and Canelo will slip and counter. Thinking this fight might look like the Jacobs fight.
