Hello there! was wondering about the quality of the oils. I make my own body and face creams and its best if you use cold-press organic oils. So my Question is if its needed in soap making ? seeing as it goes throw harsh conditions with the lye, maybe it doesn't matter..

Thank you for such an excellent explanation, I understand this much better. I just want to congratulate you on everything you have mentioned in terms of fair trade, being responsible for what we use, like palm oil. Here in Guatemala our fields are being devastated with palm oil, our natives have no more land to cultivate their crops si to this, our natives and land owners have sold to these palm oil companies. We no longer see cattle in our long trips, instead, just palm oil fields. Just very sad and definitely upset. Of course I do not contribute to their earnings, we do not use palm oil, no siree. But thank you for sharing all this knowledge.

I love how you break down information. You do it as if you were a scientist, and you might as well be one. I am a math and science savvy person, so I really love the breakdown of the fundamentals and chemistry of the soap making process. It could get even more technical, but that would not really be necessary for most watching and wanting to start soap making.
I process my own chickens and I use the chicken fat (schmaltz) in my cooking, however I have so much. I'll have to check out soapcalc and see what sort of soap it will make. Thanks so much for all the awesome information.

Hi,its heavily raining in my place and I could find tiny water droplets on my cp soaps which are like 2 months old.i have kept them on shelves. And when I make new soaps it take long time to get harder and I find difficult to unmold them.pls help.

Is there a method to recover a soap pour that does not "gel" or become hard? We suspect the olive oil may not have been 100% olive oil. (Here is the states it is common to find adulterated oils and even honey is bastardized.)
We followed your recipes for the cold process beginner and castile.
So our soap was wrapped and left in the molds for 48 hours but it is still soft.
Has this ever happened to you? How can we "test" our olive oil?
