With the support of former President Donald Trump, Budd beat his establishment-backed competitor, former Gov. Pat McCrory, in North Carolina’s Republican Senate primary on Tuesday.

Budd, who is serving his third term in the House, leads by one percent over Cheri Beasley, 44 to 43 percent, according to the first polling data released after the primary election.

A recent Rasmussen poll found that Republicans have a 9% lead in the generic congressional ballot.

The poll found that 48% of voters are planning on voting Republican during the midterms while 39% say they’re voting Democrat.

Rasmussen reported:

The 2022 midterm elections are now 172 days away, and Republicans have a nine-point lead in their bid to recapture control of Congress.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the elections for Congress were held today, 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican candidate, while 39% would vote for the Democrat. Just four percent (4%) would vote for some other candidate, but another eight percent (8%) are not sure.
