  1. Andrew, you really should stop referring to IR saunas as "red light saunas". The heat transfer is generated by far infrared, which is not visible light. Any "red lights" in a sauna are just LED's and are there for ambience, not heating the body.

I know that you and Rhonda are both just using the available studies to draw conclusions about what is an "effective" vs "ineffective" sauna practice. But, cabinet air temp alone doesn't tell the whole story. The physiological benefits of sauna are (as far as I can tell) due to raising one's core body temp. This is achieved by a net heat transfer into the body, and more specifically a heat transfer rate (watts).

A traditional sauna achieves this heat transfer with natural convection from the hot air (not very efficient), and via radiation from the hot surfaces in the sauna.

An IR sauna also transfers heat in these ways (at a lower rate due to the decreased temperature). But, they have an additional radiative transfer mechanism from the far infrared emitters.

I have run some calculations comparing the two and the numbers are pretty interesting. Reach out if you want to learn a bit about the mechanics of heat transfer, I'm happy to discuss!

  2. This was a great episode and thank you Dr. Patrick for coming on his show. I am extremely interested in the topic of sunscreen and would love for you to expand on that as soon as you are able. I'm interested to know which sunscreen ingredients are likely the least harmful to our health and should be used as well as the health effects of sun exposure to skin without any sunscreen if you're not getting burned. Also, what the effects are for different races and skin complexions. I greatly appreciate all the work you do Dr. Huberman for getting this information to us!

  3. Can i just say how fantastic this girls hair is. It must be fed by that fantastic brain.
Thank you for answering so many questions i previously had, rewatching to take notes.

  4. Ok I may be a little late on this, maybe I’ll try to ask on the new podcast next week too. Confused a little bit about the flaxseed situation. So, it sounded to me like (as a premenopausal woman) I can consume flaxseeds for my omega 3s. But, also, I thought flaxseeds contained phytoestrogens. Don’t those aid absorption for postmenopausal women and men? Just feel like those of us who want to stick to food vs supplement need some more info. Thanks!

  5. Question – do you think 2grams of Lovaza would have a negative affect on someone with a blood clotting issue (Von Willabrands)? I loved the episode! Thank you!

  6. Went to the website about fish oils. Could not find any brand names. How can we access the oils she uses? Have been taking Coreomega for years following advice from a hematologist at The Mayo Clinic.

  9. Oh my God! This guy is The Dream! Very handsome, so intelligent and loves dogs! I know this is a very superficial comment, but I had to put it out there. I cannot get enough! A pleasure to listen and watch.

  10. I think You're brilliant Dr. Huberman, & I readily rely on You for accurate unbiased information. Which is why I'm usually quite satisfied & liked this interview. However, I also felt a bit betrayed when You saw fit to insult the general population of cannabis users as unreliable/unmotivated. I sympathize if the blokes who toked in Your past were like that, but many of us are studious innovators, astounding artists & kind lovers who can be relied on for punctuality.
With that said, because I truly care about Your wellness, I strongly encourage You to re-examine the fluoride in toothpaste & tap water(in some states). It forms sediment on the pineal gland from what I read; so I am quite curious what You think of that.
