  1. I had Covid last year, and suffered 9 weeks of weighted duvets in German hospitals and clinics. I hated them. It was a very cold spring, so I needed to be covered, but I felt stifled and too hot, but they didn't have light ones on offer. Horrible things, those weighted
    duvets.

  2. So, I never wanted one because I get hot BUT I leave my body pillow at the end of the bed for this – weight on the feet is just as efficient! 😁

  3. Ive always slept with a down duvet covered with a heavy wool blanket or two. My husband used to call it"the lead blanket". Im interested to try out a weighted blanket. Is there a difference in quality depending on what material is used to create the weight? I've heard that some use sand, or plastic pellets or glass. What are the pros/cons of each? I appreciate any advice before i invest in one (limited pension)

  4. My son is 14 in the autism spectrum and ADHD! So much trouble all his life to sleep and keeping a good night sleep! I should know better, because he did use so many times weight jacket on his occupational therapy and in school! So, finally I order one for him(cotton fabric) hate anything but cotton to sleep! He just love it!! Has been using every day since I got it! But does still uses his melatonin to help sleep faster!

  5. I was looking away from the screen at 1:46, so I quickly glanced back….and cracked up.😄😄😄
Doc has a sense of humor!👍🏻

I don't think weighted blankets are for me, but it's a very interesting idea and I'm glad that they exist for those who need them.

  6. i am a witness to this video information. using a heavy blanket has helped me sleep sooooul well and for loooong hours at night without my rest being interrupted. <3 great video!!!!

  7. I LOVE my blanket! No more tossing and turning…waking up with my blanket twisted is alarming. Thanks to this weighted blanket I sleep still. I highly recommend this blanket.

  8. Try linen sheets and a wool blanket (wool regulates heat)… better energy and temperature regulation. Too much weight doesn't fair well for people with peripheral neuropathy.
Anxiety=stored past memories and emotions… Past Lives 20/20 Documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMfsjXiZGis&t=29s , Try praying at night and asking God to help you heal your anxiety in your sleep and dreams (expect to feel funky in the morning). When you are awake, your defenses are in play, when you are asleep, your defenses don't get in the way AND time isn't the same. Doesn't matter if you believe in God or what your religion is. Your prayer, your sleep, your healing. Strictly between you and God. Doesn't cost you a dime.

  9. I weigh 120 and use a 25lb blanket.
It’s too much according to recommendation but I love it. I cannot move and sleep like a baby.
The sleep is so good I want to sleep forever.

I take it on road trips and the hotel. I hate that I can’t fly with it… lol 😂

  10. I tried a weighted blanket, woke up in the middle of the night hot as hell trying to kick the thing off me but it wasn’t budging, I was going to use it for my Autistic Son but I am so glad I tried it out first, he would of become stuck !

  11. My husband has trouble sleeping for almost 9 yrs now. But this wouldnt likely work since he gets hot too easily undercover already with not heavy blanket. But great tip doc👏👏KP

  12. My 5yr old daughter had night terrors, nightmares, and other mysterious sleep interruptions every night, sometimes every 45 minutes… from infancy until June of this year. In desperation, I bought her a weighted blanket. The first night it was only over her lower legs… and yet, she slept thru the night.

  13. I can’t do anything that decreases cortisol. I have to take cortisol to stay alive!!! Addison’s disease should be mentioned here !!! And cortisol insufficiency in which a higher percentage of people have this then you know I guess.

  14. these are great,i bought a single, stopped my restless leg syndrome, tossing turning, and i did get a better sleep quality,,thing is………i think mine was weighted with sand?????,and heavy,no way could i wash it in my washing machine as the WET weight would of killed my drum, also my launderette refused to wash it ,because of the same,,so i was left with an expensive SINGLE blanket, that over time started smelling,,all i could do was spray it with a lovely smelling disinfectant linen spray, and rub any marks of ie,,from nightly nose bleeds etc,,i felt this was not hygenic over time so stopped using it…..you cant hand wash it(To heavy),you cant hang it on a line to dry(to heavy)…so yes these blankets do work, but cleaning of them is impossible xxxx

  15. I use down comforters. I feel the volume but not too hot…can use in winter and summer. I’ve always needed some kind of covering at night, no matter how hot (before the days of central air).

  16. I understand that weighted blankets are a lifesaver for many people but it would be hell for me. I sleep with no top sheet and an untucked quilt and puff it up so there is airspace between me and the quilt. I really dislike the pressure of covers on my body, especially my feet. I fall asleep very quickly this way

  17. I’ve been using a weighted blanket for couple years now, I’d be lost without it, it’s my blankie… lol I always get the question “isn’t it hot” it’s not for me… Great info Doctor, thank you!!!

  18. I asked my husband to get one for me last Christmas, he’d never heard of them & was skeptical(his normal state of being), he didn’t really even like the idea of it being on him too, but he relented & went ahead & got the king size heavy bad boy. He was an INSTANT convert & is now obsessed.

  19. Can you explain why people with sleep apnoea should not use weighted blankets please? What is the exact problem? I’d be interested as I have sleep apnoea, but also I experience night terrors and I wondered if it might help these. Thank you.
