Thank you Dr. Colin Mendelsohn for presenting this, not sure how much difference it will make in Canada. As Canada is deeply "addicted" to cigarette tax revenues which is over 8 billion annually, down from years when cigarettes were the only thing available. Such is the case with the newly introduced "vape tax" announced on April 7th, 2022, for sinning and quitting smoking the wrong way. 1/3 will go back to smoking deadly cigarettes, 1/3 will adapt – afford the tax – which raises prices by 175%; 1/3 will resort to black markets. In Canada, same in Australia, profits from cigarettes are more important than genuine public health.
First we have to see off the cigarette.
