Ilhan Omar Slammed For Tweet Criticizing Christians Singing During Flight: Wonder What Would Happen If My Family Prayed On A Plane

Ilhan Omar was mocked following a tweet in which she criticized a Christian group singing songs of worship on an airplane prior to the Easter holiday.

The video, which appears to have surfaced on TikTok from a user named Jack Jensz Jr, who describes himself as a “Preacher of the Gospel,” quickly went viral with viewers torn over the decorum of a group singing gospel songs on an airplane.

“Worshipping Jesus 30,000 feet in the air!” the video’s caption reads.

Representative Omar (D-MN) shared the video along with her thoughts on what would have happened if a group of Muslims began praying on an airplane.

“I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane,” she wrote. “How do you think it will end?”

Ilhan Omar Criticizes Christians

Republican politicians were quick to reply to Ilhan Omar’s comments of her mocking the Christian group.

Vernon Jones, a Black pro-Trump former Democrat running for a Georgia House seat asked rather bluntly, “Why do you hate Christians, Ilhan?”

“If the freedom of religion we enjoy here in America disturbs you, feel free to pack your bags and head back to Somalia, Sudan, or wherever you’re from,” he added. “Take your brother with you.”

The latter comment is in response to reports that have circulated for years showing documents that purport to raise questions as to whether Omar previously married her own brother as a means to “skirt immigration laws.”

GOP Candidate Takes Aim At Omar

Cicely Davis, a candidate in the GOP primary in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which Omar represents, also took aim at the Democrat lawmaker.

“Qatar – a country you’re very familiar with – plays Islamic prayers on the intercom before takeoff on their planes,” Davis tweeted.

“They have a designated prayer area & coordinates for Mecca are posted on the screens. It’s no problem. The issue is you hate Christians [and] Jews [and] lots of Muslims.”

A Call To Prayer

Controversy arose in 2016 when, on an American Airlines flight, a man in full Islamic dress began yelling “Allahu Akbar” at the top of his lungs as he was praying.

The person filming the incident at the time said, “Just to be clear, I’ve seen plenty of people pray on flights before but never have I witnessed a call to prayer like this.”

Omar’s comments may raise a reasonable concern, but this incident seems to point out context. Many people pray on planes, not everyone is hostile about it. There’s also a history in America involving people of one religion using planes with ill intent as opposed to another.

Omar’s History Of Controversy

Omar would later retweet comments from Deadspin sportswriter Chuck Modi who defended what she had written.

“Ilhan Omar: Makes very valid point,” Modi wrote. “Right-wingers who hate Ilhan Omar: ‘You are ‘attacking Christianity’ because I am stupid or dishonest or just pandering to my bigoted base.’”

Modi also describes himself as a “justice journalist.”

Which is all you need to know as to why he’s a ‘sportswriter’ for Deadspin. Clearly, he’s angling for a role at the woke mother ship, ESPN.

Omar’s History

Ilhan Omar has a rich history of bigotry, not just against Christians.

• In 2012, Omar tweeted “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”
• Asked a judge for compassion for ISIS recruits who were being sentenced for planning to join the terrorist organization.
• Dismissed 9/11 as “some people did something” and allegedly refused to answer if she was “pro-al Qaeda.”
• Tweeted that US support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins” and when she was asked what that meant, responded “AIPAC!”
• Described acts of terrorism as a reaction to United States’ “involvement in other people’s affairs.”

In 2020, Fox News reported on investigations involving Omar and allegations of “perjury, immigration fraud, tax fraud, student loan fraud, and possibly bigamy.”

Perhaps she should be praying that those investigations never actually catch up to her.
