Republican Senate Candidate Herschel Walker Ousted From President’s Council On Sports, Fitness & Nutrition

Since the onset of the COVID pandemic, we have learned that the health of the American people involves a good deal of politics, too. And now, President Joe Biden has seemed to double down on that notion.

Recently, Biden asked Republican Senate candidates, former NFL running back Herschel Walker and Dr. Mehmet Oz, to step down from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition or be taken off the Council or be fired.

Playing Politics With America’s Health?

Dr. Oz, who is a Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, said he received a letter from the Biden administration, saying that if he did not step down from the council by 6 p.m. Wednesday, he would be removed. According to CNN, Georgia Senate Candidate Herschel Walker received the same letter.

In a video, Dr. Oz lamented the seemingly political motivations for his removal from the council, saying, “It’s sad that he would politicize such an important issue like health. The doctor he should ask to resign is Dr. Fauci, for a multitude of obvious reasons.”

Both Oz and Walker were nominated for the Council by former President Donald Trump in 2018. The White House’s excuse for demanding resignation or removal, because those on the council are considered “special government officials,” therefore they are barred from running for any federal office.

The official website of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition states, “The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN) is a federal advisory committee that aims to promote healthy eating and physical activity for all Americans, regardless of background or ability.”

Other recognizable members of the committee include Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, MMA stars Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal, and baseball star Johnny Damon.

Dr. Oz made it pretty clear that they would have to kick him off the council. He also stated:

“Clearly, Joe Biden can’t be around anyone who doesn’t completely fall in line with his fear-mongering authoritarian one-size-fits-all COVID handling. I am proud of my service and will not resign.”

Georgia Senate Race Looking Good So Far For Walker

Herschel Walker tweeted out a statement on his removal from the council Thursday morning.

And while the move may be a disappointing one for him, he has many other things to attend to, like a tight Senate race in Georgia.

Currently, Walker is trouncing three other GOP primary candidates. A Real Clear Politics average has him up by 59.7 points. In the general election, things get much tighter, but Walker is still holding a very slight lead over incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D). The RCP average there is just one point.

Walker also received early on an endorsement from Donald Trump, which may give him a nudge as the midterm elections get closer. The two have been friends for a number of years, and Walker was and early supporter of Trump’s in his bid for the White House.

Herschel Walker Not Shy About His Views

Herschel Walker is a proud conservative, and will not shy away about stating his views. Back in September, when children of the privileged wealthy elite protested in New York City by breaking store windows over the death of a Rochester New York man while in police custody, Walker called for them all to get “federal time.”

Christian Walker, Herschel Walker’s son, proves the apple does not fall far from the tree. He has also been very vocal in speaking out for black and other minority conservatives. In 2020, after the death of George Floyd, Christian Walker blasted Black Lives Matter saying,

“Anybody who honestly cares about black people could not support Black Lives Matter — it’s a terrorist organization, and personally I think it’s the KKK in blackface.”

Herschel Walker has called out Joe Biden before, too. In 2020, then presidential candidate Biden compared George Floyd to Dr. Martin Luther King.

That was simply too much for Walker who tweeted,

Both Dr. Oz and Herschel Walker have called the move by the Biden administration political in nature. Dr. Oz suggested that Joe Biden might want to get his priorities straight.
