  1. It to bad you're coming in September, because if you had come Feb/Mar you could have gone to the Adelaide Festival and the Fringe Festival, it's like the Edinburgh Fringe but Australian

  2. Spent most of my life in Adelaide- moved away for a job. It's a pretty special city. I do miss it (and my family and friends).
Central market is amazing to taste and sample the local produce. Every time I go back I have to get a laksa from The Laksa House in one of the food courts.
Random oddity to check out – the giant Rocking Horse at Gumaracha

  3. You need to come up to Cairns, far north Queensland.
    I'll gladly put you's up.
The great barrier reef, the rainforest, savannah country, and great beer and rum,
    And southern comfort.
All the great Aussie ockers are in Queensland.

  4. You will love Adelaide. Food, food, fooooood, excellent wine lists everywhere, and – depending on the time you go – lots of cultural options as well. And did I mention the food? Go to the Central Markets and eat. Your stomach will thank you. If you can get to a footy game at the Adelaide Oval, it'll be An Experience. And btw McLaren Vale is a lot closer to the city than the Barossa. Also Coopers Brewery and microbreweries…

  5. Expat South Aussie – and the slower, laid back lifestyle is SOOOO true – and it's what makes Adelade Adelaide. The metropolitan beaches are fantastic for family – unlike surfing beaches elsewhere most of Adelaide's metro beaches are quite flat, and so there's a totally different beach culture and it's not unusual to see kids about waist-deep throwing a ball and playing "classic catches" or similar. It also has the other extreme – bushwalks in the foothills around the waterfalls of Morialta and Tea Tree Gully.

But perhaps Adelaide's greatest feature is the accessibility of towns and regions within an easy drive (often less than an hour) – wine country in almost every direction, Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale – and even more if you head further. Regions with strong German influence – through the Barossa, or the suburb/town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills where you can enjoy smoked meats, or German Beer. Or about an hour from the city you can pop up to the Murray River for a Housevoat getaway (or just a day on the river) – and appreciate the diversity in SA's country side from the sandhills on the metropolitan beaches, through the leafy foothills and then out across the plains toward the Murray.
You'd expect Port to make the finals this year – so there'd be a reaonable chance of a couple finals at the Oval – which gives you a chance to soak in some of the Cafe precinct of North Adelaide, or join the Port Supporters as they march to the ground from some of the pubs on North Tce (if you don't mind being around Port supporters, of course)….

  6. It takes no more than 45mins to get from one side of Adelaide to the other and that's peak hour. Paddle boats on the Torrens river, Yiros Shack Cafe and amusement park, Glenelg. Mettwurst shop, Adelaide market, if you like German sausage. Measday's lookout, Mt Barker at sunset. If you've got time to travel, Victor Harbor is worth the trip, Barossa Farmer's Market, Angaston and try Menz fruchocs, Sno Drop soft drink

  7. Adelaide is great for a trip in and out lol …Hindley st is just random lol just weird and wonderful
My sister married a guy for SA he says the best thing about Adelaide is coming home to Melbourne 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  8. Hahndorf is pretty but over-commercialised and touristy – we found the McLaren Vale wine area a nicer place. And it's on the way to Victor Harbour. Visit Port Adelaide – footy and some good history.

  9. I’m sure you’ll love Adelaide, they do a roof walk at the Oval if you’re ok with heights. It’s not just wine here, it’s cheeses and small goods and fortified‘ sand spirits and beer and all the other good stuff that we have. Also some of the best quality fruit/veg/meat/seafood you’ll find. Tony Robinson (Blackadder / Time Team) did a great little walk around Adelaide that can be found on YouTube too

  10. There are two AFL Clubs based out of the Adelaide Oval..the Adelaide Crows and the Port Adelaide Power. Home games for both are very well attended. The AFL has a very informative web site. There are also some top class tennis courts beside the Oval. A beautiful historic horse racing track at Victoria Park with another at Morphetville.
The South Australian Government Tourism site has some marvellous info that includes tours and activities. Regional sites are also good (e.g. Florieau Peninsula / Kangaroo Island).

  11. Howdy rob and georgie, adelaide is a great city ,but it is the rest of the state that makes the place so good.you wont be able to see it all in a week.i dont know how to contact you without the world knowing,if you want, i can hook you up, maybe a camper or something like that.i have a place in country sa,you could use as a base of ops.im not that computer literate, i dont know how to do that,i live in the sticks for a reason,😊.you work it out .cheers.all good

  12. I’m from Melbourne… stayed in Hahndorf for a week in February, great Germany inspired town. Good food and good Germany beer. 😋👍 Another good place to visit is Glenelg Beach. Also, common in the wine growing regions are cheese producers, they offer cheese tasting.

  13. I grew up in Adelaide and it was a great place to grow up. We would go to the Adelaide markets every few weeks and it truly is an experience. Every Sunday we would go to the parklands that surround the city to take a walk and enjoy the atmosphere. Go check out Hanhdorf a stunning German town that has original buildings from the 1800’s, it is rich with history. Visit Glenelg beach by riding the trams from the city as that is a true experience. If you have time check out Victor Harbour and Mt Gambier and visit the extinct volcano there. So much to see. Great video and reaction.

  14. Go to the wineries for the food and the countryside and the people. Don’t bother with the wine did it’s all good. Surely there must be beer joints if you are into that. ‘
    Random sentence ahead –
True grog distilleries are few and far between in Australia. We had Beenleigh Distillery years ago (Queensland) that produced a beautiful Beenleigh Rum. There IS a Beenleigh Distillery nowdays, but it’s in name only.
And of course the Bundaberg (Queensland) Rum Distillery exists (?) But overdoing this choice at 16 can make this production facility null and void.
