Millionaire Liberal Stephen Colbert Lectures Americans About Paying $4 For Gas: ‘Clean Conscience Worth A Buck Or Two’
‘Late Show’ host and comedian Stephen Colbert lectured that paying more for gas is a small price to pay for a clean conscience, and joked he’s willing to do so because he drives a Tesla.
While the host’s monologue is oft-peppered with jokes, knocking concerns about rising gas prices that are siphoning money out of the American people’s wallets at exorbitant rates comes off as a bit out of touch.
Considering he’s a multi-millionaire, and all – and considering the cheapest Tesla will run you $45,000.
But, damn it, he’s willing for you to make that sacrifice … for Ukraine!
“Since the invasion, oil prices have skyrocketed,” Colbert began.
“Today, the average gas price in America hit an all-time record high of over $4 per gallon. Okay, that stings, but a clear conscience is worth a buck or two,” he insisted.
“I’m willing to pay. I’m willing to pay $4 a gallon. Hell, I’ll pay $15 a gallon because I drive a Tesla,” he joked.

Stephen Colbert Willing to Pay More For Gas
Stephen Colbert saying he’s willing to pay more for gas rings a little hollow coming from a Hollywood elitist such as himself.
In 2019, the comedian signed a three-year contract extension to stay with CBS. Prior to that, according to Forbes, he was an overpaid host whose ratings did not match his paycheck.
“His $15 million salary put him in an even tie with Jimmy Fallon for the title of the highest-paid host in late-night TV,” according to Yahoo News.
It’s much easier to afford a Tesla and $4 gas when your bank account has seven or eight figures.
For the whopping 64% of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck in the Biden economy, what’s happening is nothing short of devastating.

All well and good to have a clean conscience when you’re making millions and not struggling to support your family.
What about the Middle-Class American or those in poverty? Some are getting to the point where they have to balance whether to gas up their vehicle and go to work or keep that $20 and put it towards groceries and food for their family that week.
Have they no right to complain about being forced into such a decision, Stephen?

Scolding Americans
Journalist Glenn Greenwald slammed Stephen Colbert for his comments lecturing Americans about the need to willingly and happily pony up.
“Apparently, the way to get a ‘clean conscience’ is to stop buying oil from Russia and buy it instead from Saudi Arabia,” he joked.
Reports surfaced earlier this week that President Biden’s advisors were trying to plan a trip to Saudi Arabia to “convince the Kingdom to pump more oil.”

To his credit, Colbert also joked about that concept in his monologue.
“Take that, Putin! We’re not gonna buy our gas from a war criminal,” Colbert said. “We’re gonna buy it from the good guys, Saudi Arabia!”
Telling America it is their patriotic duty to shell out more for gas is becoming a theme on the left.
Earlier this week, The Political Insider reported on a finance reporter and frequent commentator for the big three mainstream media networks, advising Americans that the best way to support Ukraine right now is to “stop whining” about higher gas prices.

With rates going the way they are, Colbert’s dream of paying $15 for a gallon of gas might be here before you know it.
As of writing this post, the national average for gas rose once again today to a record $4.25 per gallon.
Colbert found himself in hot water when, in 2017, he made a vile, homophobic joke about then-President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
