CNN’s Jake Tapper Mocked By Conservatives For Now Arguing COVID Hospitalization Stats Are ‘Misleading’

CNN anchor Jake Tapper received a hefty dose of criticism for a recent segment in which he argued that COVID hospitalization stats may have been “misleading.”

Tapper’s ‘come to Jesus’ moment comes as CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky admitted that up to 40% of reported COVID hospitalizations are not actually due to COVID, but rather incidental diagnoses for patients coming in with some other ailment.

“In some hospitals that we’ve talked to, up to 40 percent of the patients who are coming in with COVID-19 are coming in not because they’re sick with COVID, but because they’re coming in with something else and have had … COVID or the omicron variant detected,” she said in an interview with Fox News Bret Baier.

Prior to Walensky’s admission, any suggestion that COVID numbers had been inflated was immediately dismissed as a conspiracy theory.

Jake Tapper Realizes COVID Numbers Are ‘Misleading’

For many, Walensky’s statement was simply confirmation of something suspected for quite some time. For Jake Tapper, however, it was a revelation.

Tapper raised concerns over that revelation in an interview with CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

“If 40% in some hospitals – 40% of the people who have COVID don’t necessarily have problematic COVID – they’re there because they got in a car accident, they’re there because, you know, they bump their head, and they’re being included as ‘in the hospital with COVID,’ that number seems kind of misleading,” he worried.

“We’re two years into this, and we need the clearest picture possible. If somebody’s in the hospital with a broken leg and they also have asymptomatic COVID, that should not be counted as hospitalized with COVID, clearly,” Tapper added.

Truth Is Coming Out

Critics seized on something they felt Jake Tapper probably should have known or at least investigated a long time ago.

“It’s so striking how many arguments that were long taboo are now all being aired,” journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted.

“These media people were the ones who were supposed to be looking at data skeptically,” Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich responded. “It has been obvious, for at least a year and a half, that this was happening. Alternative media noticed and was attacked for delivering the truth.”

Claremont Institute’s Nick Short simply said to Tapper, “Two years too late Jake.”

Walensky also recently admitted that 75% of COVID deaths had been in vaccinated patients who had “at least four comorbidities.”

It’s funny how the CDC and political pundits are suddenly correcting the record on reporting COVID statistics now that Omicron cases have skyrocketed and it has become abundantly clear that President Biden cannot “shut down the virus” as he promised.
