I have been loc’ed since I was 17. I’m 34 now. I’ve cut them completely off in 2014 due to military and then I said hell with it and grew them back in 2016. I use to do every 6 weeks…but for the last two years I’ve been doing 2-3 months. Love it!!!

I just started my second loc journey yesterday with the intent on semi freeform. Retwisting mines every 3 months 🔒
I retwist my dreads every 3 or 4 months. I think I do wash my hair too much thought. I wash my hair twice a week.
3 months with my starter locs in coming up to 4 in December, Its growing and its still looking good, I don't call it an ugly stage because its our natrual state, I'm giving it time before i retwist it again. 👏

I prefer waiting to retwist, 4-6 weeks seems too short. I got my set in July and haven't resisted since, it's been like 5 months. Ima try getting one soon

If you're experiencing some grower's remorse because you don't like how skinny they are, just do what I did….sacrifice a good chunk of them about an inch away from the root and then combine each of those roots with the nearest full grown locs, and just continue the journey like that 😎😁👍🏾👍🏾 I felt the exact same, once upon a time, I started mine very skinny and came to regret it, but then got the idea to sacrifice some of my least favorite locs, and combine those roots to whatever other dreads they were closest to and just let my hair grow back over time like that 👍🏾👍🏾
