I missed the live Q&A but i wanted to ask you if it's safe to ride a bicycle in the recovery period of a herniated disk. The bicycle is a dutch bicycle style and i sit in a upright position . I'm not really having a back pain but i do have sciatica although it's shifting from my butt to calf, thigh or heel sometimes, or even not at all sometimes too.
In 2015 an RMN showed an s1 l5 herniation and a small bulge on l4 ,left side with no sciatica at that time. Had recovered from that one even though i've experienced some back pain from time to time and eventually minor sciatica from time to time. I'm a plumber by trade but i do all kinds of stuff and metal working or whatever arround the house. 5 weeks ago i've carried a heavy grinder on one of those 2 wheel hand trolley and the thing got out of ballance and shifted the weight towards me and my hands(and i was taken by surprise) and i felt a little sharp sensation in the spine. I was still ok but i have soon started to feel mild sciatica in my left leg and not so mild 2 days or so later. I do walks 2 times a day and one or 2 times a day the mcgill big 3 and it's helping. I tried the suit case with a 25pounds weight one day but that caused pain in the following hours but i think it has to be because of the poor technic (tried like a deadlift to keep my back but idk if i did it right) of me lifting from the ground and let it back down .The weight was my power tool case so it should've been high enough for grabbing.
Cheers for this as ever Brian, hope you and your family had a good Xmas
Brian thank you for the word, Jesus Christ bless and protect you, your family and your journey.
