  1. See I believe in god or a higher deity but I don't see how he would want me to go to a church and give away the money i earned by hard work to the church, But it's good to hear that ivan got the help he needed and overcame his addiction.

  2. I happen to be one of Ivans fans from long ago. I did not know be him and I were on Ozzfest in either 02 or 03 together. I had a game on ozzfest and he was in Motograter I believe. I have struggled with addiction and depression and had almost the same experience he had and it was him that gave me lots of the courage to quit drinking and trust me it is still a battle to this day. But Ivan my favorite singer probably of all time.

  3. This makes total sense to me. I had cancer 3 times. Two bone marrow transplants. I died twice. There's no reason I should be alive. But this experience of his was very similar to mine.

  4. I'm a fan of FFDP . I'm also an ex-christian and now a dedicated atheist due to years of research into the historicity of the bible and the Abrahamic religions.
My studies in Cognitive Neuroscience have shown me that NDEs are NOT death , but the brain experiencing severe oxygen starvation which causes the memories of an experience as the brain recovers and neural pathways begin to be restored , and not always exactly the same way they were previously . True death is brain death .
It has been noted that some people suffering NDEs will return with religious experiences in accordance with their beliefs or cultural upbringing , and they are consistently different around the world depending on their religions .
Neuroscience has discovered that the out of body experiences are the result of endorphins and neural activity of the right angular gyrus located at the junction of the temporal and parietal lobes .

  5. Quit drinking cold turkey myself 4 years ago. It was a huge mistake. If you ever want to experience true existential terror for days on end, with no relief, give it a try. I survived, but it was absolutely foolish. Nevertheless, haven't touched a drop since. Scared the absolute shit out of me. You don't realize how bad you are until crawling back up from the bottom is your only other option besides death. I wouldn't wish DTs on my worst enemy. Keep up the good work Ivan. I was always more of a motogratr fan myself, but I glad you're still killing it.

  6. It is the lack of B1 or thiamine that a heavy drinker has the danger of quitting cold is that the sugars will rush to the brain and cause brain damage , it happened to my father his mind is really bad I take care of him he can't drive or do anything that he did before.

  7. Not a good message imo. He said after he died that “for a brief moment, I was free”. This guy influences people and I’m sure many of these people have mental issues. Saying that death can lead to a certain freedom is not a good message to be giving to a wide audience.

  8. Can’t wait for the new album! To make it 4 days cold turkey from alcohol takes a level of strength that no one can even begin to fathom unless they’ve been there themselves. I’m a “retired” firefighter/paramedic, and have cared for souls detoxing from alcohol; I hate to think how many people I’ve MICU transported needing a higher level of care, and the mortality rate at that point is staggering. I ended up falling backwards into an 18” gap between a wall and a hospital bed that was anchored to the ground trying to revive a 680 pound woman. I suffered massive injuries including a split in two pelvis that required me to have an external fixator for months. I made an almost complete recovery, but left the hospital a junkie. I ended up stealing pain meds from my drug bag at work after I returned, and was given a treatment in leu of conviction sentence that I completely bombed. I was a heroine addict for 5 1/2 years after that. I spent some time in prison, and caught myself another felony along the way. I’ve been sober for 5 years now, and completed the heavy equipment operator apprenticeship, and I’m coming up on a year as a journeyman! I love it when influential people can put their pride in check and share their journey to sobriety with those of us who look up to them. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for Ivan to choose selflessness, and become an example of strength; not only for those still sick and suffering, but to those of us who continue to make the choice to not pick up every day! We do recover!

  9. Ivan, I love you so much and I'm sorry you had to go through that to wake up and realize the world needs you and you need the world. Now carry on and do what you came back to do! I understand what you went through, I too had many alcohol overdoses and it sucks coming back but you made it through it for a reason. Love you so much!

  10. I’ve had detox/withdrawal seizures and I was just OUT. Dizzy one minute and “coming to” the next. Nothing in between. 6+ years sober now

  11. I've met Ivan at a bar in Colorado about ten years ago. My friend said he knew him when they were starting to get pretty famous and I didn't believe him. But sure enough he showed up with a group of people and his lady. Bought my friend and I a drink and we returned the favor. It was cool to meet him. Very down to earth person. I usually tell this story to my rocker friends when I get the chance.

  12.
