Atleti learnt their football style from Estudiantes in the 70s. It got them a European Cup final in 1975. This is like Cruyff and Rinus Michels sharing Ajax's style with Barcelona. The Atleti fans believe this dirty style is a part of their culture and success.

For all the noise I keep laughing they held one of Europe's most potent attacks to an xG of less than 1 like we laughed about after the first leg city's big chances were the two shots on target in the first leg and the one late game shot in the second leg so they ended up creating about just as much as each other.
Simeone's one mistake was just not playing his cards early. Atleti settled with Cholo out of respect for what he’s done in the past for them, this makes me realize how lucky we Madridistas are that Florentino Perez never settled with Mou or Zidane solely out of respect. Cholo should’ve been fired 3 seasons ago, this shows that Atleti don’t think they can do better. It’s weird that the stadium fans love him but when you look at Atleti’s IG page, all the comments from their fans are anti Cholo.
People seem to have forgotten City played Athletico followed by a league game against Liverpool and then straight into this match.
And to walk out with winning the tie away at Athletico is an amazing feat. City are a good team but haters go hate.
