  1. My question is: if someone is in that much pain, that they would rather commit suicide than suffer with the pain, for heavens sake, who cares if they are addicted? It's stupid!! I have severe pain that keeps me flat on my back some days! More days than not! It is always a trade off, in my experience, even surgery, results in original pain gone, but, new pain comes into play!!

  2. One fact about addiction that is never EVER mentioned. Fact. Nobody forces an addict to take a medicine in the first place. If you got "addicted" from a hospital stay, TELL YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY. Being sneeky and dishonest because you won't admit you LIKE DRUGS is what causes this problem. It is a VOLUNTARY illness…. if that is what you choose to call it.

  3. CDC just dropped the limit for how much a doctor can prescribe. So now doctors can prescribe insane amounts. CDC claimed that during the time that they put the limitations in, deaths didnt go down, so they made prescriptions unlimited again. GENIUS right? Well, during the time that they had the limitation in effect, was during COVID pandemic, which increased opiate usage and deaths. But CDC is so fake and against human health, that they said, "no more limitations, prescribe all opiates you want."

  4. People suffer in excruciating pain because of this also. They have been forgotten. Even if your dying from cancer. You should still be able to get pain meds that you need to help you deal with that pain. Just have to balance it. Even buprenorphine and methadone can help some pain. Lets not forget those in pain as well as remember those in addiction and recovery. Hopefully those recovered will be able to get the pain relief they need if they have excruciating pain after recovery.

  5. I have sickle cell and an emergency room doctor came to the room and told my parents the same thing! β€œYou know shes addicted right?”

I wasnt even there for pain meds but he seen my chart & decided to make it about that!

  6. Methadone saved my life, I was a severe opiate addict with heroine being my drug of choice. I've been in recovery since 2007. I also used subutex and that's a great tool as well. MMT is a amazing thing if the addict is ready and uses it correctly.

  7. Low risk people and zero risk people don't understand what it's like to be afraid of becoming addicted. I have seen multi-generation addiction to various things in my family. I recently went to the hospital with gout which is uric acid crystallization in my big toe. My big toe felt like it was broken. Before I left the hospital the emergency doctor wanted to prescribe drugs for me. I asked him five or six times if there are painkillers or narcotics. He was starting to get pissed off because he thought I wanted narcotics I had to explain to him with others listening no matter how bad the pain is I can't take narcotics. A narcotic is Tylenol 3 which I have been prescribed for before without being told it was a narcotic. I was lucky I did not become addicted. People may say that a person can't become addicted to Tylenol 3 I say a person can become addicted to beer.

  8. Seriously nothing about the clear link between childhood trauma and bad parenting and addiction…? Yet nothing about trauma the veterans suffer from? Like this is ridiculous to put this aside… in a society where violence is normalized… it's easy to blame the drug and the addicted… never have you thought the environnement can have it s place in this load of blame …? even more if you seek real solution…. People are treated like asset for far too long… First listening to thoses addicted should be the true honnest point to start from… Finding out what is that pain they try to get relief from… not the physical one… the one in the heart and the mind… where they lost trust in themself …. and or in the whole world…. this would help far more….

  9. I am very lucky to be from Canada. was addicted to IV H, fent, coke etc. Had been to numerous rehabs, tried abstinence, methadone, Suboxone and kept relapsing. I am now on safe supply which is kadian(extended release morphine) that I take every morning at the pharmacy and I am given 3 tablets of Dilaudid 8mg as well. I haven't used any illegal drugs, have not drank alcohol in over a year since Ive started this miracle program.

  10. All the addction treatmens are free ( from taxes, obviously ) in Spain, from health social security and from ONGs.

Spain, my country, is a poor country compared to EEUU and Canada.

If we can have a very good assistance for addictions, i dont understand why north americans have not it.

  11. This is crazy. Such a powerful brain we have but a chemical in balance can really mess you up. I wonder about homeless individuals and there drive to get up an go ? Now I know they can’t produce the chemical to get up and go.

  12. They call it drug addiction because it is an addiction not a disease. Addiction requires more than countering with other drugs. Addicts need help for as long as it takes.

  13. How exactly would big pharma create demand with proper treatment of addiction? That could dent that profit margin…It's impossible with the current mode of production.
