Democrats Get Uneasy About Repeal Of Title 42 Immigration Restrictions, Want Biden To Hold Off Lifting Policy

The impending repeal of the Title 42 COVID immigration policy, and the attendant expected surge of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border, is appearing to be too much even for Democrats to swallow.

Many have joined Republicans in an effort to urge President Joe Biden to delay lifting the Trump-era policy that is planned for next month.

The change in policy will result in a massive surge of illegal immigrants according to the Border Patrol.

Border Is Out Of Control Right Now

Since Joe Biden became president, attempted border crossings have increased dramatically.

Title 42 is a pandemic-era policy begun under former President Trump that allows authorities to turn away immigrants based on health grounds, and it’s exactly that policy that the Biden administration is seeking to drop.

Senators In Tight Races Feeling The Heat

As the midterm election looms, several Democrats are getting fidgety about Biden lifting the Title 42 order. Among them are Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Gary Peters (D-MI).

Recall that the Senate is an even 50-50 split between Democrats and Republicans.

Hassan told local New Hampshire television WMUR News9:

“Our front-line personnel need significant additional numbers, people on the ground at the border. They need more technology. They need access roads and, in some places, they need physical barriers. The administration really needs to step up here, develop a plan and get more resources to the southern border.”

Sen. Chris Coons from Biden’s home state of Delaware said Sunday during an appearance on CBS’s ‘Face The Nation’ that,

“In the region where I’m from, we’re seeing infections rise. I think Philadelphia, for example, just returned to a mask mandate. So my hope is that that will be reconsidered appropriately. I know that there are both Republicans and Democrats calling for a reconsideration and the administration just announced a plan for how to deal with a possible surge in crossings at the border.”

Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) echoed concerns from other Democrats:

“Unless we have a well-thought-out plan, I think it is something that should be revisited and perhaps delayed. I’m going to defer judgment on that until I give the administration the opportunity to fully articulate what that plan is.”

March was the worst month at the southern border in DHS history, and yet Biden is ending Title 42 which will only lead to further chaos.

Impending Chaos

If Joe Biden gets his way, and Title 42 is lifted on May 23 as scheduled, border officials say they will essentially be dealing with an unmanageable number of illegal immigrants at the Texas-Mexico border.

The Department of Homeland Security has warned that “it is preparing for an influx of as many as 18,000 immigrants per day later this year.”

That’s over 500,000 per month.

Cartels are already preparing to move massive amounts of illegal immigrants through a massive human trafficking network according to Goliad County Sheriff Roy Boyd.

Sheriff Boyd’s not just warning Texans, but all Americans about what is about to happen courtesy of Joe Biden. He stated that, “Biden’s border crisis isn’t limited to the border. It’s heading north to every major city and small town in the U.S.”
