Michelle Steel’s spox condemned Chen’s comments, according to Fox News:

“America is a country built on immigrants,” the spokesperson said. “Michelle Steel is a first-generation Korean American who speaks English as her third language, and these despicable, racist comments from Jay Chen have absolutely no place in our community. Chen owes everyone an explanation, particularly following recent reports he continues backing the Chinese Communist Party’s Confucius Institutes in our educational system.”

District 45 represents the following cities in Orange County:

Irvine, Tustin, North Tustin, Villa Park, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest, and Rancho Santa Margarita, parts of Anaheim, Orange, Laguna Woods, Mission Viejo, and Trabuco Canyon.

Recall, Orange County, a traditionally conservative enclave in Southern California turned all blue after Democrats found hundreds of thousands of votes post election day in 2018.

Orange County Republicans Young Kim (District 39) and Michelle Steel (District 48) flipped two congressional seats red in 2020.
