Dr. Jan, thank you for this informative video. My dog is showing all the signs of this disease. She's about 13 years old. She has an appt. tomorrow with her vet to see if she has this disease.
If she has this disease, I'd like to try the Adrenal Harmony Gold and the herbs you mention. My questions are: How much / dose of the herbs should I give my dog? She is about 50 lbs. right now.? Also how do I prepare them? Do I just add to her food? Thank you for your helpful advice.

Thanks for this video! We have a team approach: traditional & two integrated veterinarians – all working together. We are treating with TCVM – herbs, holistic remedies instead of trilostane. Our 12 yr old Golden still has high cortisol but has shown better liver and stable kidney levels. She is showing some new signs in blood work of possible hypothyroidism & pancreatic issues but no physical manifestations. The main concern is weakness in her rear but we think she has arthritis anyway. She is responding well to hydrotherapy for that.
Secondary to the leg strengthening, we are working on her anxiety that seems to spike after dinner, at which time she gets one Benadryl & four drops of Rescue Remedy by Bach. This usually kicks in within a few hours and if she is otherwise well, sleeps soundly through the night. Recently she picked up a stomach bug (only lower GI) and had to have some potty time early morning but that passed within 72 hours and she’s back to her old self.
I am looking at the melatonin for her anxiety though. I wonder if it might also help to lower the cortisol? Without the rest of the UT protocol? She’s doing well on TCVM so I don’t want to change that. Our specialist there is good with adding the melatonin.
