Far-Left Rep. Cori Bush Fumes At Biden For Not Mentioning ‘Black Lives’ During State Of The Union
Far-left Democrat Representative Cori Bush, a member of the so-called ‘Squad,’ slammed President Joe Biden for criticizing the ‘defund the police’ movement during his State of the Union speech, pointing out that he failed to mention “black lives once.”
The President called for more money to be allocated toward training law enforcement officers and giving them the resources they need to protect their communities.
“We should all agree,” Biden said. “The answer is not to defund the police.”
“The answer is to FUND the police with the resources and training they need to protect our communities,” he added.
The phrase ‘fund the police’ began trending on social media shortly thereafter.

Cori Bush is Not a Fan of Biden’s Plan to Fund the Police
That video clip is remarkable for the hypocrisy all around – bipartisan applause that included cheers from Democrats such as Vice President Kamala Harris who promoted a bail fund for rioters who were setting cities ablaze with their ‘defund the police’ protests.

One person who wasn’t thrilled with Biden’s comment, however, was Missouri Democrat Cori Bush.
“With all due respect, Mr. President. You did not mention saving Black lives once in this speech,” Bush tweeted. “All our country has done is give more money to the police. Result? 2021 sets a record for fatal police shootings.”

Bush is referencing a Washington Post database that reveals 1,055 people across the United States last year were fatally shot by police officers, up from 1,021 in 2020 and the most since they started tracking statistics in 2015.

Clemency to Those on Death Row
Cori Bush sent a message to President Biden even before his SOTU address began.
Bush wore a bright red shirt with the number 18,000 printed across the front.
“My State of the Union fit,” she tweeted. “18,000. That’s how many people whose clemency petitions are sitting in a backlog, waiting for @POTUS’s review.”
Did anybody in the room last night know what that number meant? If you have to explain the commentary every time, are you really getting your message across?

Aside from being a ‘defund the police’ activist, Bush has long been a proponent of granting clemency to everybody currently sitting on death row.
The Missouri Democrat made her views clear in an op-ed with Time Magazine.
“If [Biden] truly opposes the death penalty,” she wrote, “he must do everything in his power to stop it for good. Granting clemency to all on federal death row is his most effective tool.”

While demanding Biden defund the police and mention ‘black lives,’ Cori Bush is currently number five on the list of lawmakers who pay most for private security details.
She spent $233,700 this past year on personal security according to an Axios report.
Bush, in an interview with CBS News this past August, argued that it’s not hypocritical for her to spend money on private security while trying to defund the police, telling critics to “suck it up” and suggesting any judgment of her actions means people ‘want her to die.’
“They would rather I die?” she said. “You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see?”
Not all of Bush’s threats are real, however.
Last year she made the wild claim that ‘white supremacists’ opened fire and ‘shot at’ her during the protests in Ferguson, Missouri over the death of Michael Brown in 2014.
When we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us.
They never faced consequences.

The Ferguson police chief says he’s unaware of any such incident.
Left-leaning fact-checking resource Politifact requested evidence multiple times from Bush that the shootings ever took place, but she and her campaign never replied.
