I am 32 years old and my shingles rash developed three weeks ago today. I was only diagnosed yesterday and have been using Zostrix cream and amitriptyline. I only got diagnosed yesterday because I thought the rash was something else.
The rash is now more or less gone. But I still have pain, the skin itches and I have numbness.
I have no immune problems and are generally in good health and keep fit. I was also diagnosed at a young age. My doctor did not mention PHN at all yesterday. As my age category is favourable for me, I thought I am not at risk. But am I still at risk to develop PHN?

Thank you for useful information about symptoms and treatment of post herpetic neuralgia. My mom had similar experience with sever pain during attacking phase as well as six months later.
