Bill Maher Says Canada PM Justin Trudeau’s COVID Rhetoric Sounds ‘Like Hitler’

On Friday, HBO host Bill Maher said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sounded “like Hitler” when he made remarks about whether or not to “tolerate” people who aren’t vaccinated, and also criticized the Canadian leader for saying that the trucker protesters in his country had “unacceptable” points of view.

Maher made his remarks on his program “Real Time.”

Maher: ‘The left, once the champions of the working class, seems to view these blue collar workers as the enemy’

Canadian truckers are protesting the cross-border vaccine mandate in their country.

The Political Insider reported in late January, “A line of trucks stretching for miles across the snowy landscape of Canada, with the drivers borrowing a concept from their American cousins, ‘the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

“The grievance Canadian truckers are seeking to redress is a vaccine mandate, required for cross-border haulers. But the left, once the champions of the working class, seems to view these blue collar workers as the enemy.”

The enemy, indeed. Maher is a progressive, but has been outspoken on what he sees as authoritarian tendencies on the contemporary left, in the U.S. and around the world.

Maher sees this in Trudeau, saying on Friday, “I mean, Justin Trudeau … I mean, I thought he was kind of a cool guy, then I started to read what he said — this is a couple of weeks ago, he was — or maybe this was September, but he was talking about people who were not vaccinated. He said they ‘don’t believe in science and are very often misogynistic and racist.”

“No, they’re not,” Maher insisted.

Maher on Trudeau: ‘Now you do sound like Hitler’

Maher continued, “He said, but they ‘take up space’ and with that, we have to ‘make a choice’ in terms of a leader as a country, ‘do we tolerate these people?’ It’s like, tolerate? Now you do sound like Hitler. And recently, he talked about them holding ‘unacceptable views’.”

Maher’s guest, former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, said she was surprised to hear that Trudeau said this.

Maher joked, “You didn’t see the blackface?”
