BA2 is not a variant it's a sub-lineage derived both from a common ancestor. BA1 and BA2 started at the same time.
BA2 has 15 mutations different from Omicron. It is another variant. It is as different from Omicron as Delta is as different from Alpha.
What happened to Delta?
