While the FBI hunts patriotic Americans, China’s “Scientific Double Agents” Operate Freely in U.S. Universities

While the FBI hunts patriotic Americans, China’s “Scientific Double Agents” Operate Freely in U.S. Universities

One could call them Scientific Double Agents, those who appear to be working for the United States, but who simultaneously work for China.

They are the thousands of scientists trained in the People’s Republic of China, who have established themselves in laboratories in the United States, some becoming American citizens, but ostensibly maintaining allegiance to China.

They use U.S. taxpayer funding to conduct collaborative research with scientists in China, some of which are from the People’s Liberation Army.

Thus, they are, de facto, providing a subsidy to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) research programs, including biowarfare.

George Mason University’s National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases, located just a few miles from CIA headquarters, has been heavily funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Yuntao Wu is a faculty member in the National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases.

According to his resume, Yuntao Wu appears to have come from Canada, having been awarded a Ph.D. from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

What Yuntao Wu’s resume does not say is that he received his initial research training at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as part of a yet unidentified undergraduate education, possibly military-related.

Between 2005 and 2021, Yuntao Wu has received about $10 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), mostly from Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and an unspecified amount of funding from the Department of Defense.

During that entire period, Yuntao Wu invited scientists from the People’s Republic of China into his laboratory, maintained collaboration with research centers in China, and worked with scientists linked to the People’s Liberation Army, for example, Yanfang Zheng from the First Military Medical University in Guangzhou, also known as Southern Medical University.

Yuntao Wu is also as Associate Editor of the Chinese journal Virologica Sinica, the Editor-in-Chief of which is Zheng-Li Shi, the “Bat Woman” of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Virologica Sinica’s Editorial Board reads like a Who’s Who of China’s biowarfare program, including some of the presumed architects of COVID-19.

On March 6, 2020, early in the pandemic, Yuntao Wu was senior author of an article parroting the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda that COVID-19 originated in nature, not from a Chinese laboratory, as we now know.

Two co-authors on that same article, Jianming Qiu and Shan-Lu Liu, could also be considered Scientific Double Agents.

Jianming Qiu, a professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, graduated from Zhejiang University and received a Ph.D. from the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control in Beijing, whose director, Gao Fu, also known as George F. Gao, is closely aligned with the Chinese military, as an earlier Gateway Pundit article demonstrated.

Between 2006 and 2021, Jianming Qiu also received about $10 million from NIH, most of it from Anthony Fauci’s NIAID.

Jianming Qiu has been working with People’s Liberation Army officer Shengqi Wang between 2005 and 2021.

Shengqi Wang is shown in this photograph briefing Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier He Liu about COVID-19 detection equipment.

Shan-Lu Liu is a graduate of Zhengzhou University and is now a professor at Ohio State University.

Between 2013 and 2021, Shan-Lu Liu received over $4.2 million in NIH funding, the vast majority of which came from Anthony Fauci’s NIAID.

As documented in an earlier Gateway Pundit article, not only has Shan-Lu Liu collaborated with People’s Liberation Army scientist Cheng-Feng Qin, who is believed to be a key figure in China’s biowarfare program but there is evidence pointing to Shan-Lu Liu’s role as an organizer of CCP propaganda in the United States.

In early February 2020, long before the origin of COVID-19 could have been determined, Shan-Lu Liu wrote an article entitled “No Credible Evidence Supporting the Claims of the Laboratory Engineering od SARS-CoV-2,” supporting Beijing’s argument that the virus had a natural origin.

As recently as January 2021, Shan-Lu Liu was in communication with Zheng-Li Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, who was encouraging him to enlist Chinese virologists in a public relations and media campaign to support Beijing’s natural origin propaganda.

There is massive Chinese infiltration in U.S. virus laboratories and American taxpayer dollars continue to flow through Scientific Double Agents into China’s fused military-civilian research programs without interference from any government agencies allegedly responsible for U.S. national security.
