  1. The growing parts or "sinks" in plants get their nutrients from the older parts or "sources". Immobile nutrients are moved directly from the growing media throughout the plant to the sinks. Mobile nutrients are moved from sources to the sinks. In other words some of the nutrients flowers receive comes from the media and others are being moved from older growth. This happens throughout the entire life of the plant. Bringing the plant to end of life senescence is allowing the plant to breakdown all the stored nutrients in the sources of the plant as a last effort to reproduce. Environmental factors, nutrients, and water stresses are hormonal queues for the plant to finish up.

I say all of this to say that this plant is meant to go through senescence and the method that the grower uses is indicative to the level of stress and duration of that stress. The most natural way is the shorting of daylight hours, dropping of temperatures, and reduction in nutrients and water. Call all of this whatever you want to call it but every fruit bearing plant including cannabis isn't fully mature until senescence……that's factually and is taught in agricultural courses.
