Representative Maxine Waters, commenting on the crisis at the border, suggested the treatment of Haitian illegal immigrants was “worse than what we witnessed in slavery.”
Waters, the far-left California Democrat, initially spoke of a highly dubious claim that Border Patrol agents were using whips on Haitians who had crossed the Rio Grande River.
“I’m pissed,” she said. “I’m unhappy and I’m not just unhappy with the cowboys who were running down Haitians and using their reins to whip them.”
Border Patrol officials have insisted the reins are used to steer the horse and keep distance between the animal and the individual, action that protects both parties.
Waters, having pushed a disputed narrative, transitioned to hyperbole by claiming those actions are akin to slavery.
“What we witnessed takes us back hundreds of years,” she said. “What we witnessed was worse than what we witnessed in slavery … cowboys with their reins, again, whipping black people.”

Waters went on to suggest the border officers involved be fired.
She asked “who’s paying these cowboys to do this work?” adding they have “got to be gotten rid of.”
Who’s paying them? They’re not random ranch hands, Maxine. They work for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Their boss is President Joe Biden.

Waters got part of her wish – two of those agents are on administrative leave right now, making them essentially the only people being held accountable for the Biden border crisis.

Playing The Race Card
Speaking of ponies, the Squad, a group of the one-trick variety, have joined Maxine Waters in playing the racism/slavery card.
Far-left Representative Ilhan Omar earlier this week called the actions of Border Patrol agents dealing with the Haitian migrants “obviously systematic racism.”
“The fact that we are dealing with mainly black migrants and black immigrants and asylum seekers at our border in this kind of way really speaks to the kind of racism, systematic racism that is embedded in that department,” claimed Omar.

Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) joined Waters at the press conference and declared that the Border Patrol agents were acting like white supremacists.
“Haitian lives are black lives, and if we truly believe that black lives matter, then we must reverse course,” Pressley said calling for an end to deportations.
“Congress must do the work of investigating and ensuring accountability of the egregious and white supremacist behavior of Border Patrol agents in Del Rio Texas,” she added.
